The Scavone Family

Our family session was scheduled for 6:45 on Monday evening. Around 4 the weatherman was predicting 30-40% chance of precipitation with more rain earlier and slacking off right around 7. At 6:00 it started pouring, like Charleston monsoon-style pouring. Traffic backed up everywhere; roads closed due to flooding, and my poor little Mazda 3 almost drowned at a stop light. At 6:40 things still looked grim and we talked about canceling, but since Crystal’s family had to go back to Augusta that evening, we didn’t know when we would be able to reschedule.

Then, at 6:43, the rain stopped. It was like turning off a faucet! The Scavones finished fighting monsoon traffic, and we were able to do our session as planned!

These guys were the best! I love photographing older couples who are still crazy about each other :)

This is Winston. The photo below is the result of whistling and saying his name; the photo above is what happens when you ask, “Winston, do you want a girlfriend?” I guess that means he does ;-)

Grace is One!

Ok so she’s technically not one yet, but she’s really really close! And remember how she loved to dance at one month,

Grace4wks_014

three months,

Gormans_0007

and eight months?

Grace_0014

Well now she’s up and dancing on her feet! She especially loves to dance to Rock Band, and will probably be a famous drummer one day :)

Deandra and Jerome // Charleston Engagement Photography

Deandra and Jerome love to laugh! No really. They LOVE it! At least half of my shots are of them cracking up at some private joke, and you can just tell they’re going to be one of those old couples that are still the life of the party :-)

Deandra and Jerome, I had a blast working with you guys! I can’t wait for your wedding in August, and I hope you keep on laughing!

Jasper

Jasper Luke Barden was born on March 26 and is already such a sweet little man! His big sister just thinks he’s adorable, and Dad already has him holding baseball glove =)

Baby Grace in the Spring

Little Grace is growing up so fast! I can’t believe she’ll be eight months on Saturday! Since it’s finally warmed up a bit (I say finally because it’s Charleston, and honestly it should have been warm in March ;-) ), I got together with the Gormans to do some spring shots of Grace. This is her first little Easter dress (cue group “awwwww!” :D ) And since she really is “a wee bit Irish” we also did some pictures for Saint Patty’s Day. Beware, you may just die from all the cuteness that’s about to happen!

Christi & Kaiya

I have always considered myself a big dog person. I love Great Danes, Newfies, Rottweilers, Mastiffs, German Shepherds, and anything big and furry with a sloppy kiss. Of course now that we have a big dog, I’m starting to understand why people might prefer small breeds. And then I met Kaiya. Kaiya is a Shiba Inu, and just about the coolest little dog I’ve ever met. She’s small enough to fit on your lap without smushing you, and she can still run with the big dogs at the dog park.

See? No smushing happening here. Cole likes to do the same thing, but I don’t look nearly as happy when he does ;-)

The Bardens // Charleston Maternity Photography

Last week I sat glued to the weather forecast. Every day predicted cold, stormy rain. Every day except Sunday, and Sunday was the one day we needed. I know the weatherman often gets a bad rap. People complain that if they were wrong that much in their job, they would have been fired a long time ago. Personally I was very grateful for the weatherman this week, and he nailed it! In the middle of eight days of rain, he picked out the one sunny day and could even tell me what time the morning clouds were going to break!

This is the beautiful Barden family! You may remember them from their session last fall, and now they’re about to have a new addition :-)

You’re killing me, Monica! So beautiful!

Ok quick story: shoemakers are brilliant! When we were walking out to the beach, I noticed that Sophia’s shoes had squeakers in them. I kind of laughed remembering how light-up shoes and wheelies were so popular when I was a kid… and then we started doing some couple shots. The shoes were amazing! While Justin & Monica were working it in front of the camera, you could hear every step Sophia took while she played with seashells. It was a continuous “don’t worry Mom, I’m right here!” So this next series is courtesy of the great people who design children’s shoes :-)

During the session Justin found a dead ghost crab and showed it to Sophia. At first she was a little shy, but then she started looking at it and grew quite attached. When she couldn’t find it later, she got really sad and kept asking where her crab was. After we finished the pictures Justin went back and helped her find it, so she could give it a proper seashell burial and say goodbye.

The -Whole- Gorman Family // Waterfront Park

You remember Teddy, Lindsey, and their sweet baby Grace? Well today you get to meet the rest of the family! We met up at Waterfront Park on a very drizzly Sunday afternoon, and managed to just beat the rain.

Gormans, I had such a blast hanging out with y’all, and I hope you love the pictures!

Lucy // Charleston Baby Photography

Meet Miss Lucy! She’s a little over two months old and loves to smile (right up until you pull out a camera ;-) ) She loves her lion toy and thinks her hands are yummy. Mommy thinks she might be a piano player when she grows up because she has long fingers, but no matter what, Daddy knows she’ll be an NC State fan =)
